Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information the JobEX app collects, how it is used and shared, how it is stored and protected, and how you can delete your account. It applies to the JobEX mobile and web application.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you create a JobEX account we collect your email address, your full name, and your password. Your password is handled by our authentication provider (Supabase Auth) and is stored only in hashed form — JobEX never sees or stores your password in plain text. We send account emails, such as the confirmation link required to verify your email address.
Profile information
You can choose to fill in a professional profile, which may include:
- display name and professional headline
- profile photo
- professional profile link (for example a LinkedIn or portfolio URL)
- location, an “about you” bio, and a contact number
- your role on the platform (for example job seeker or employer)
If you use the professional talent profile features, you may also add skills, experience, education, work preferences, portfolio links and availability, and you control whether that profile is publicly visible or private.
Information you provide while using JobEX
- Saved opportunities. Opportunities you bookmark are stored with your account (and a local copy may be kept on your device). Saved items are private to you.
- Applications. When you apply through JobEX we store the application record: the opportunity, its status (for example submitted or withdrawn), any notes you add, and the dates it was created and updated.
- Notifications and alerts. We store in-app notifications (such as employer invitations and updates), your opportunity alert preferences, and alerts generated for your account.
- Employer and organisation content. If you use employer features, this includes your company profile, logo, vacancies, invitations to candidates, and your reviews of applications.
Payment information
JobEX uses Paystack to process payments for subscriptions and featured placements. Card numbers, CVV codes and bank details are entered on Paystack’s checkout and are handled by Paystack — they never reach JobEX. JobEX stores only payment metadata needed to grant your purchase: the transaction reference, amount, currency, product, status, and timestamps for the payment and your subscription.
Technical and device information
JobEX does not include third-party analytics or advertising software development kits, and it does not collect precise location, advertising identifiers, or behavioural tracking data. Like most internet services, our backend provider records standard technical logs (such as IP address, request time and request outcome) for security, abuse prevention and operating the service. Session tokens needed to keep you signed in are stored on your device (device storage on mobile, local storage on the web).
2. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To display your profile and professional information to employers, in line with the visibility settings you choose.
- To store your saved opportunities, applications, notifications and alert preferences so the app works as you expect.
- To process payments through Paystack and grant the subscriptions or featured placements you purchase.
- To operate employer features: publishing vacancies, managing applications and contacting candidates.
- To detect abuse, keep the service secure, and provide support.
3. How we share your information
JobEX does not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers. Supabase hosts the JobEX database, authentication and file storage (including your profile photo). Paystack processes payments. Each uses your information only to provide its service to JobEX.
- Employers and users, as part of the product. When you apply for an opportunity, the employer receives the application information described above. Your saved opportunities are never shared. A professional talent profile is only visible to others if you set it to public.
- External websites you choose to visit. Many opportunities link to an organisation’s own application page. When you follow one of these links you leave JobEX, and that organisation’s privacy policy applies from then on.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if we are legally required to do so.
4. Storage and security
- Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) between the app and our backend.
- Our database uses Row Level Security, so each signed-in user can only read and change their own records; one JobEX user cannot access another user’s account data.
- Passwords are stored hashed by Supabase Auth. Payment secrets (the Paystack secret key) are kept only on the server and are never included in the app.
- Payment verification happens on the server: a payment is only granted after the transaction is verified with Paystack directly.
5. Data retention
- We keep your information for as long as your account exists, so the app can function for you.
- When you delete your account (see below), your account, profile, saved opportunities, applications, notifications, alert preferences and JobEX payment records are deleted.
- A local copy of some data (such as saved opportunities and your session) may remain on your own device until you sign out, clear the app’s data, or remove the app. Your account and personal data are removed from our servers.
- Paystack keeps its own transaction records as the payment processor, under its own retention rules.
6. Account deletion
You can delete your account from inside the app at any time: Profile → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and removes your account and the data listed above. If you cannot access the app, email us and we will delete it for you — full instructions are on our Delete Account page.
7. Your rights
- Access and correction. You can review and edit your profile information directly in the app.
- Deletion. You can delete your account in the app, or by contacting us if you cannot access it.
- Other requests. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example to a copy of your data or to object to certain processing). Email us and we will respond to requests we can verify.
8. Children
JobEX is a professional and educational opportunities platform intended for adults and young professionals. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the effective date at the top of this page changes. The current version is always published here.
